The FSLED technology used in Caelumen has been designed to deliver more than 2 mW/cm² at the skin surface.

However, Caelumen is significantly different from conventional LED masks, so comparing mW/cm² values alone can be misleading. Caelumen features 3,770 micro-LEDs integrated into a flexible, face-fitting structure that keeps the light sources approximately 2 mm from the skin, creating highly uniform surface illumination.

Conventional LED masks often state a much higher irradiance because their LEDs are positioned farther away from the skin. This greater distance can result in increased light loss and less uniform light delivery. Caelumen’s approach is instead designed to deliver light efficiently and uniformly directly to the skin, with significantly lower optical loss.

This face-fitting FSLED technology has also been clinically validated in research published in Advanced Materials.

Red LED Technology

The mask uses red LED light with controlled irradiance, a photobiomodulation technology studied in the field of skincare and skin rejuvenation. Available clinical evidence on devices using red light around 630 nm has shown improvements in parameters such as wrinkles, firmness, elasticity, and overall skin appearance following several weeks of continued use.
